This year, Vince Duffy was appointed deputy chief executive for the Department for Energy and Mining, one of the few departments globally to recognise the link between mining and renewable energy. Previously he led the department’s energy and technical regulation division where he was at the forefront of leading and shaping responses to the many challenges faced during South Australian’s energy transition in the national energy market.
Vince holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Economics. Within government he has dedicated over two decades to energy market reforms, with a focus on economic regulation, National Electricity Market issues and sustainability.
Vince’s other roles span serving as an economist within Treasury and Finance, and at the Passenger Transport Board.
Notably, Vince’s career began with a unique chapter as a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer with Australian Airlines from 1982 to 1993.
